JOIN US TO STOP POLLUTION IN PILSEN

Wednesday April 20 2011

City Council, Thursday 21, 10 AM
Clean Air Ordinance Hearing

After a long fight to stop coal plant pollution, particularly in low income minority neighborhoods, the Chicago City Council will hold a joint hearing of the Energy and Health Committees Thursday, April 21, at 10 AM. A vote from the joint committee can move the ordinance on to the full council for a final vote in May.

PLEASE JOIN US. Help us stop pollution in Pilsen and in Chicago. After a Chicago Tribune article denounced lead pollution in the air of Pilsen two weeks ago, residents demanding solutions have gained momentum and key support. (See the Reuters story below.) The ordinance would force the two coal plants left in Chicago to either change to cleaner energy or shut down.

Meet us at the City Council, on City Hall’s second floor, at 9:30 AM (metal detector, sitting), or get on the bus at St. Pius Church, Ashland and 19th Street, at 8:30 AM. See you then.
