Holiday wish list for Pilsen residents from the Gazette Chicago

December 23, 2015

For Pilsen residents:
Rising property taxes and rising rents are making some longtime Pilsen residents wonder if they can stay in the community that is their home. Our wish is that landlords and government take the needs of both longtime residents and newcomers into account and keep the community affordable for working class residents. We also hope that the City’s Department of Planning and Development takes the suggestions of Pilsen Alliance and other community residents into account as it formulates its land use plan, and that Alderman Daniel Solis listens to the alliance and other groups and residents as well. His planning group should include alliance members and members of other community groups, not just individuals hand-picked to agree with whatever City officials want.
